Community Pillars Forum
St. Cloud State University is a sponsor of the the sixth-annual Greater St. Cloud Community Pillars Forum from 7:30-10 a.m. Feb. 26 in the Terry Haws Room at the River’s Edge Convention Center.
Community representatives will provide highlights of the nine pillars with specific emphasis on a 2015 survey on social capital, which measured the networks of relationships among people who live and work in Central Minnesota.
Under the theme “Better Together,” presentations and discussion will center on the nine community pillars:
- Education – All people have access to life-long educational and learning opportunities which prepare them to be contributing members of society.
- Arts, Entertainment & Recreation – All people have opportunities to engage in and take advantage of cultural, entertainment, recreational and well-being opportunities.
- Community Engagement – All people feel ownership in and connected to the broader community.
- Economy – All people benefit from an increase in employment, wages and business vitality.
- Green – The entire community grows in an environmentally sustainable manner with respect to our land, water and air resources.
- Housing – All people have access to a full range of housing options.
- Infrastructure – All people have affordable access to infrastructure associated with transportation and communication.
- Safety – All people feel secure and free from crime.
- Wellness – Our community will create sustainable environments which encourage healthy choices and support mental and physical well-being.
In addition, a childhood obesity report will be shared from BLEND (Better Living: Exercise and Nutrition Daily), a community collaborative initiative.
The forum will include audience engagement.
The Greater St. Cloud Community Pillars Forum is free and open to the public. Registration is required at stcloudcommunitypillars.eventbrite.com. A light breakfast will be provided.
