Spirit activities and sporting events are among the reasons to revel in all things Celebrate.
The winter edition of Celebrate St. Cloud State is Feb. 23-27 on campus and in the community. Share your photos on social media with the hashtag #CelebrateSCSU.
Students and student groups can express school spirit via the Husky Spirit Challenge, a series of Celebrate events that award points and prizes based on team participation. The top three teams in each event receive additional points. Students who participate in at least half the events earn a long-sleeved Husky Spirit Challenge T-shirt.
Concert Choir is defending its 2015 Husky Spirit Challenge championship. Cheer Team and Huskies Soccer shared the 2014 title. Acacia fraternity won in 2013.
Cash and prizes are divided among the top three teams:
1st Place: $750 toward custom St. Cloud State apparel and $150 in Munch Money
2nd Place: $500 toward custom St. Cloud State apparel and $100 in Munch Money
3rd Place: $250 toward custom St. Cloud State apparel and $50 in Munch Money
Campus offices and local businesses can join the fun through the Husky Spirit Office Decorating Contest.
Among the best-loved events is Human Battleship, a canoes-in-the-pool splash fest 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Halenbeck Hall.
Sledding with the Huskies, another campus-community favorite, is cancelled due to lack of snow.
Men’s Huskies Hockey hosts rival University of Minnesota-Duluth Feb. 26-27 at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Fans are encouraged to wear their black St. Cloud State apparel Friday. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network. Beer will be sold at the Saturday game, which will be televised on the FOX Sports North and FOX College Sports networks.
