Undergraduate transfer enrollment is up over six percent this fall at St. Cloud State University, according to the most recent enrollment report released on Oct. 14.

St. Cloud State has opened new spaces this year to support transfer students on campus and at St. Cloud Technical & Community College, along with investing in new transfer admissions and recruitment staff.

SCSU has been honored as a transfer-friendly institution for seven consecutive years.

“This growth reflects the strength of our transfer initiatives and remains an important area of opportunity moving forward,” said Dr. Maria Wright, associate vice president of enrollment management. “We want to be the most transfer-friendly university in the state.”

SCSU’s overall enrollment headcount was 9,143, the second highest for a university in Minnesota State.

Headcount was down about five percent from 2025. In order to close a larger projected gap, the University established an enrollment operations workgroup to identify and address barriers preventing students from enrolling, returning or completing their registration.

Beginning in July, faculty and staff from Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, Advising, Residential Life, Office of Records & Registration, Business Services, Graduate Studies and the Center for International Studies met regularly to review fall 2026 enrollment trends, identify challenges affecting students and coordinate solutions.

This collaborative approach allowed SCSU to address barriers more quickly, improve communication across departments and provide more coordinated support for students throughout the enrollment process.

“Although this year’s overall results are below our goal, we remain focused on using data to guide decisions, strengthening collaboration across divisions and improving the experience of current and future students,” said Dr. Katherina Pattit, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

SCSU publishes a university factbook each fall to give a detailed snapshot of enrollment and the student population. Visit SCSU’s Analytics and Institutional Research website for the 2026 Factbook and past reports.
