St. Cloud Times — The public persona of Earl H. Potter III was of a man who welcomed collaboration, held a steadfast commitment to service, of a man who thought big.
Earl Potter, the husband, father, grandfather — “Pops” to family members — wasn’t much different.
“He was just bigger than life and took up so much space. He just filled up a room. And, he loved us,” his wife, Christine, said. “He was a man with a generous heart.”
Christine Potter and members of her family spoke to the Times on Thursday for the first time since the death of St. Cloud State University’s president. They shared stories about a man with a gusto for life, a propensity to break out in song and dance. They talked about a doting grandfather, a storyteller and a story maker.
