A computer engineering student is studying abroad in Japan this semester with help from the Gilman Scholarship Program.
Nigel Hearn, Waite Park, is among hundreds of college students from colleges and universities across the United States to earn the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. His award is for $2,000, which he will use toward his study abroad costs at Akita International University in Japan.
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers grants to help undergraduate U.S. students of limited financial means pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career oriented internships abroad. It is administered by the Institute of International Education and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
