St. Cloud State University is bringing in a set of Minneapolis drummers to join forces in a set of free improvisation for two drum sets and electronic music Nov. 1 in St. Joseph.

Both drummers are accomplished musicians who explore the intersection between music, technology, drumming and improvisation. Bates is a drummer with the Erik Koshkinen Band, Alpha Consumer and Dead Man Winter. King is a drummer with The Bad Plus, Happy Apple, Halloween Alaska and Dave King Trucking.
The drummers have collaborated on performances on two drum sets with some live electronics at The Icehouse in Minneapolis in the past.
The collaboration is made possible through grants from the David Swenson Memorial Foundation, which provides scholarships for music majors at St. Cloud State as well as grants for equipment purchases and guest artist performances and workshops.
