St. Cloud Times — Whether you are just starting out on your career or are looking to move into a leadership position, having the right tools — including solid advice from a trusted adviser — can be critical.
It is something Times Media Advertising Director Marilyn Birkland has noticed comes much easier for men than it does for women.
“Men are more natural at helping each other out, women not so much,” she said.
And given the emergence of more female leaders across the community, and particularly within Times Media, Birkland believes it is even more important to encourage leadership among women in the local business world.
“From our perspective, the more help we can give in connecting successful leaders with emerging leaders and help those emerging leaders find a successful path, the better,” Birkland said.
And to do that, Times Media has brought back its Women in Business series for the third year. What started as a networking event has blossomed into a three-part series focused on developing mentors and helping emerging leaders connect with female leaders throughout Central Minnesota.
New to the series this year is the Coaching for Mentors program. Hosted at the Welcome Center at St. Cloud State University, Birkland said this program is designed to teach mentors how to build an effective relationship with their mentees.
