Students worked with Buddhist priests to offer monthly meditation sessions for this year for students and the community at St. Cloud State University.
The sessions consisted of different meditation techniques targeted at cultivating mindfulness. The objective of the sessions was to help students and the community at large for free, said Nalindrani Malimage, one of the meditation session organizers.
The sessions were an immense help to both students and the community, Malimage said.
The meditation sessions were conducted by Buddhist priests from Minnesota Buddhist Vihara and were open to people of all religions.
The sessions consisted of three parts — breathing meditation, walking meditation and a spiritual talking and counseling session where participants discussed issues they were facing.
The sessions were held in the Atwood Alumni Room and were organized by students Nalindrani Malimage, Chandu Kasthuriarachchi, Kaushalya Sathsarani Nissanka, Sandani wijerathna, Warda Saif, Nadika Bandara and Harindi Imasha.
The group held its last session of the year March 24, but anyone wishing to learn more about the meditation sessions may contact Malimage at [email protected].
