Dear Campus Community,
I am deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place in Las Vegas on Sunday where more than 50 people lost their lives and hundreds more were injured in a senseless act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Las Vegas and the friends and families here in Minnesota who may have been impacted by loss or injury.
The world is still waiting for answers as to why a gunman opened fire on more than 22,000 country music fans at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival near Mandalay Bay. What we do know is that this was one of the worst mass shootings in our country’s history.
I ask that the campus community act with compassion and kindness as we continue to understand the facts of the incident and how the country will seek ways to come together and move forward.
Sincerely yours,
Ashish K. Vaidya
Interim President
