They’re from Minnesota towns such as Waubun, New Ulm and Melrose. They come from American cities such as Denver, Milwaukee and San Juan. They hail from 29 nations around the world, including Burkina Faso, China and Yemen.
More than 515 undergraduate students and graduate students are expected participate in Commencement 1 p.m. Dec. 15 in Halenbeck Hall.
They are among 945 students earning degrees and certificates this semester. Our fall graduates include 788 undergraduate students and 157 graduate students, including 15 earning doctoral degrees.

Delivering the student address is Irina Jones, a magna cum laude graduate who has earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems. Born in Bangladesh, Jones hails from Auckland, New Zealand.
Conferring degrees will be Ashish Vaidya, interim president. Among those presenting the graduating class is Dan Gregory, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Representing faculty is Ettien Koffi, professor, Department of English. Sharing alumni remarks is Terri Mische, executive director of alumni relations and constituent engagement, St. Cloud State University Alumni Association.
Representing the Minnesota State system is Amanda Fredlund, trustee. Fredlund is a student at Pine Technical and Community College. She also works as a Minnesota Reading Corps preschool reading tutor at Fairview Elementary School in Mora.
Mayor David Kleis ’89 will bring greetings from the City of St. Cloud.
University Chamber Orchestra and Men’s Choir will perform music, including “Man of La Mancha,” by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh.
Parking will be free Dec. 15 in campus parking lots and the 4th Avenue Parking Ramp.
Graduates, their guests, faculty and staff are encouraged to use the free St. Cloud Metro Bus shuttle. Street parking is available, as posted.
At St. Cloud State, an A average corresponds to a 4.0 grade-point average.

Silver tassel | Magna cum laude (with great honor) = 3.50 to 3.74
