St. Cloud State University social work major Grace Espinoza is once again serving on Gov. Mark Dayton’s cabinet as part of the Young Women’s Initiative.
Espinoza first served on the cabinet as part of the Initiative in 2016. This year, in addition to serving on the cabinet, Espinoza will co-chair the committee on Safety and Wellbeing.
The Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota is a statewide partnership between the office of Gov. Mark Dayton and Lt. Gov. Tina Smith and the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota. The initiative was named a 2017 Changemaker by the Minnesota Women’s Press.
The group has developed a Blueprint for Action (PDF) plan aimed at improving the lives of girls and young women in Minnesota by achieving equity in outcomes, access to equal opportunity and ensuring safe, prosperous lives for all young women in the state.
Espinoza is a senior majoring in social work. She works for the Women’s Center on campus as a programming and outreach assistant. She is also an intern for NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota as the St. Cloud State campus representative. During her summers she serves AmeriCorps with the Yes Network working with low-income youth and families.
