ST. CLOUD TIMES —Beaver Island Brewing Co.’s latest release is too brew for school.
Literally: Selke Pale Ale pays homage to St. Cloud State University, former university President George Selke and his namesake field, and good old-fashioned school (and city) spirit.
“If there’s one thing I’m guilty of, it’s loving this community and being St. Cloud proud,” said brewery co-founder Nick Barth.
Barth described the pale ale as “delicate, balanced … It’s got a nice, bright hop character that just transcends with citrus.”
“It’s just a really balanced, perfect pale ale,” he said Friday. “This could be my favorite beer that we’ve ever made.”
The name, which conjures up images of Selke Field, was selected to seamlessly combine St. Cloud State culture with a broader sense of the Central Minnesota community.
