Professor John Baker has been named the new pre-law advisor at St. Cloud State University.
Baker is a 1999 graduate of St. Cloud State and earned his Juris Doctorate from Hamline University School of Law (now named Mitchell Hamline School of Law).
Prior to joining the Department of Criminal Justice in 2017, Baker spent 10 years in private practice as a partner in the Baker Williams Law Firm, representing clients in Minnesota State and Federal Courts on all levels of criminal charges.
A United States Marine Corps veteran himself, he frequently represented service members, veterans and first responders in criminal and related cases.
Baker is Chair Emeritus of the Minnesota State Bar Association Military & Veterans Affairs Section and a member of the Military Action Group (MAG) at the Minnesota legislature.
Baker succeeds professor Kathy Uradnik (political science). Uradnik led the pre-law program for the past 20 years.
