Greetings Huskies,
One of the dimensions of Our Husky Compact is to “Act with Personal Integrity and Civic Responsibility” which encourages self-awareness and personal and civic identity, and making a difference in the civic life of our communities. We have an opportunity to act and make a difference in the communities in Minneapolis that have been directly impacted this past week.
Among the many families living in Minneapolis/St. Paul neighborhoods who have lost their local businesses and whose daily lives have been negatively affected are SCSU students, employees and alumni and their friends and families. In collaboration with current SCSU students, student leaders, faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, administrators and alumni we are organizing a way for our community to support those individuals affected by civil unrest in and around their neighborhoods.
We will be collecting donations (see below for a list of supplies needed). Supplies can be dropped off at the Administrative Services Lobby from tomorrow Wednesday, June 3 through Thursday, June 4 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Friday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We plan to drop off the supplies this Saturday, June 6 at different community locations identified by our alumni, students and faculty in the Twin Cities area. Thank you to our SCSU Student Government leadership, who volunteered to assist with collecting the items dropped off in the Administrative Services building.
