An upcoming training at St. Cloud State University will help the campus and community become certified spotters for the National Weather Service.
The Department of Atmospheric and Hydrological Sciences (AHS) and its student chapter of the American Meteorological Society will be hosting an all-campus/all-community Skywarn Training Session on Tuesday, April 23 from 5-8 p.m. in Wick Science Building Room 114.
“This training provides attendees with information about how to safely observe storms that often pop up throughout Minnesota during the spring and summer, as well as how to send reports of damage, high winds or funnel clouds/tornadoes to the National Weather Service,” AHS Professor Rachel Humphrey said. “Be the NWS’s eyes on the skies!”
All are invited to attend, and attendees (aged 16 years and older) will be certified spotters for the National Weather Service at the completion of their training.
Interested individuals should contact Professor Humphrey at [email protected] to reserve a spot and/or to ask any questions. Those that registered before the event was postponed due to winter weather are still considered signed up.
