North Hennepin Community College becomes SCSU’s third EDVANTAGE partner

Leadership from St. Cloud State University and North Hennepin Community College joined together on Nov. 15 to officially welcome NHCC as an EDVANTAGE partner, becoming the third two-year school in the Minnesota State system to ally with SCSU on their innovative program for transfer students.

The SCSU Transfer EDVANTAGE Program is designed for students who want to begin their college experience at a Minnesota State community college but are seeking an attainable path to a bachelor’s degree.

Office of Higher Education awards SCSU $50k in grants for Huskies Food Pantry

Minnesota’s Office of Higher Education (OHE) recently awarded $50k in grants to St. Cloud State University as part of a statewide initiative to address food insecurities at Minnesota institutions.

The Hunger Free Campus initiative was established in 2021 to provide grants to institutions invested in reducing food insecurity and achieving the Hunger Free Campus designation. SCSU received the $25k Pathways to Designation Grant and the $25k Equipment Grant.

SCSU stands out as a leader in international student education; named a 2024-25 College of Distinction in nine categories

St. Cloud State University has been honored by Colleges of Distinction in nine categories for the 2024-25 school year, including earning the inaugural International College of Distinction award.

SCSU’s long history of providing stellar support for international students was recognized with the International College of Distinction accolade, which was awarded to institutions for the first time in 2024-25. The International Badge also acknowledges the school’s efforts in offering academic resources that promote success.

SCSU upgrades Department of Mass Communication & Film facilities with new spaces for marketing, film classes

The recently-formed Department of Mass Communication and Film Studies has undergone huge renovations in their learning spaces this semester, creating an upgraded learning environment for students and professors.

A stunning difference is noticeable as you walk into the department offices in Stewart Hall Room 125. While the space had formerly served as a front office reception area, students and faculty saw the potential for it to be more.

Olympics Wrestling PA Announcer finds community, belonging as Voice of the Huskies

Jason Bryant has emerged as one of the top wrestling public address (PA) announcers in the world over the past decade. The numbers speak for themselves: 25 collegiate wrestling national championship events, seven world championship events and three editions of the Summer Olympics.

SCSU Swim & Dive continues tradition of building bonds through working security

St. Cloud State University Swimming & Diving head coach Jeff Hegle has a strong belief in having as many people as possible participate in college athletics.

That includes taking every one his student-athletes to road meets, which is a challenging expense for a combined men’s and women’s team of over 70 athletes. How do you fund that goal? SCSU Swim & Dive makes it happen by working security for some of the state’s biggest sporting events.

KVSC broadcast nominated for 2024 National Student Production Awards

St. Cloud State University’s student-run radio station KVSC has been nominated for the 2024 National Student Production Awards.

KVSC is one of four finalists in the audio division for best sports play-by-play. Their submission is from the third period of the SCSU Men’s Hockey game against rival North Dakota on Jan. 20, 2024, where the Huskies went on to record a shootout win after a 3-3 tie.
