SCSU partners with Journeyable, launches new disability training around travel

The Center for International Disability Advocacy and Diplomacy (CIDAD) at St. Cloud State University has partnered with Journeyable, the world’s most accessible travel community, to elevate accessibility on the world stage and empower every person with determination to journey limitlessly.

Concurrently, CIDAD launched Access to All, a new disability awareness training initiative. The news was announced Nov. 16 at the official Journeyable launch in Kauai, Hawaii, where SCSU and CIDAD were celebrated as the exclusive education partner of Journeyable.

St. Cloud State expands formal ties with two Australian colleges during trade mission

St. Cloud State University announced on Nov. 16 that it has expanded its curriculum sharing and study-abroad relationships with two Australian colleges to increase study-abroad enrollment for historically underrepresented students.

As part of the agreements signed this week during Minnesota’s trade mission to Australia, SCSU will share curriculum and expand its study-abroad exchange with Southern Cross University (Sydney) and Victoria University (Melbourne).

Submissions requested for contests and awards during 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration

In advance of the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration weekend on Jan. 13-15, submissions are being accepted for the annual Dexter R. Stanton Essay & Visual Art Contest and the Humanitarian Awards.

Submissions for the Essay & Visual Art Contest are due by Dec. 1, while nominations for the Humanitarian Awards are due by Dec. 8

SCSU professor honored for contributions to Minnesota history

Dr. Christopher Lehman, Chair and Professor of Ethnic Studies at SCSU, recently received the inaugural Ruth Riester Award for Historical Contributions to the Humanities by the Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC).

The award was given to Dr. Lehman in recognition of his noteworthy research and publication of “Slavery’s Reach: Southern Slaveholders in the North Star State,” which was released in 2019 and has been a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award in the “Minnesota Nonfiction” category.

National Science Foundation awards SCSU $1.88 million grant involving Extended Reality technologies

St. Cloud State University has been awarded a $1.88 million grant from the National Science Foundation for the Resource Collaborative for Immersive Technologies (RECITE) initiative.

This three-year Advanced Technological Education (ATE) project will support two-year technical educators as they integrate cutting-edge Extended Reality (XR) technologies, like augmented and virtual reality, into the classroom.

St. Cloud State University celebrated its first-generation students, faculty and staff in the Atwood Memorial Center on Nov. 8 during F1rst-Generation Celebration Day.

F1rst-Generation Celebration Day is part of an annual, national effort to raise awareness for first-generation college students and their experiences. First-generation students are individuals whose parents did not receive a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

SCSU’s HuskyTech holds successful Innovation Days

HuskyTech at St. Cloud State University provided a unique opportunity for the campus community to gain a hands-on experience with engineering technology and network with fellow Huskies during Innovation Days held in Miller Center on campus from Oct. 25-27.

During Innovations Days, multiple sessions were held for SCSU students, faculty and staff to engage on a variety of topics surrounding artificial intelligence, especially generative AI such as OpenAI, ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing.
