SCSU student, alumna earn national recognition as best in student journalism
A St. Cloud State University student and alumna earned national recognition over the summer for their work publishing or broadcasting during 2022.
Aiden Farrell and Nyah Adams, both Mass Communications students who took part in UTVS and Husky Productions at SCSU, were among 61 students from 37 universities across the United States and Canada to be recognized as national winners during the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence National Awards in June.
Two SCSU NSF NOYCE Scholarship recipients present at annual summit
In June, two St. Cloud State University STEM Education students were invited to attend and present their research at the 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) NOYCE Summit.
Students Janey Peterson and Owen Lewis attended the summit, which is an annual event held in Washington, D.C. for recipients of NSF NOYCE Scholarships.

St. Cloud State University welcomed incoming undergraduate students to campus for the start of the 2023-24 academic year during Huskies First Four on Aug. 17-20.
Huskies First Four is a four-day experience that annually serves as a welcome and orientation to SCSU for new incoming students before the start of fall semester.

Dave Blanchard named Director of Online and Distance Learning
Davidson (Dave) Blanchard has been appointed as Director of Online and Distance Learning (SCSU Online) in Academic Affairs following a competitive nationwide search that attracted a talented pool of applicants.
A longtime Husky, Dave is very familiar to the campus community, having previously served as Interim Director of SCSU Online and a faculty member in the Department of Teacher Development.
SCSU Library partnering with Stearns History Museum to offer Museum Access Pass
The St. Cloud State University Library, along with Great River Regional Library and other area institutions, are partnering with the Stearns History Museum to offer SCSU students and employees with a new opportunity to obtain a free week-long museum access pass.
The libraries at SCSU, St. Cloud Technical & Community College and the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University are teaming up with the Stearns History Museum and the Great River Regional Library to establish a first-of-its-kind initiative called the Stearns History Museum Access Pass, which allows free access to the museum for patrons at the participating libraries.
SCSU hosts 22 St. Cloud area youth for multi-day team building, experiential learning and recreational trip
In July, St. Cloud State University hosted a group of 22 black youth from the St. Cloud area community for an immersive multi-day team building, experiential learning and recreational trip that included on-campus workshops and a trip to Wisconsin Dells.
The event was a community collaboration between SCSU, American Association of University Women (AAUW), D-Blake Center and United Way of Central Minnesota to offer these youth a unique and memorable activity during summer break to boost their sense of pride and well-being while broadening their life experiences.
Paws on the Pavement 5K set to return during Homecoming 2023
St. Cloud State University and SCSU’s Department of Sports Facilities and Campus Recreation invites Huskies and supporters near and far to take part in the Paws on the Pavement 5K during Homecoming 2023 at SCSU.
Students, teams, organizations, clubs, residence halls, alumni, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to join in one of the most anticipated events during Homecoming on Oct. 7 while showing your Husky pride during a unifying 5K run/walk around SCSU’s campus.

St. Cloud State University is gearing up for Huskies First Four to welcome our incoming undergraduate students on Aug. 17-20 with four days of activities to meet new friends, get to know campus and start to explore what life as a Husky is like.
Huskies First Four is a four-day experience that annually serves as a welcome and orientation to new incoming students. It is intended to assist undergraduate students in developing skills and connections during their first few days on campus and throughout the first semester at SCSU.
