St. Cloud State University will offer new online career training courses this summer in cannabis education.
SCSU’s Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) division is partnering with California-based cannabis education company Green Flower to deliver the content. These nine-week career training courses are available to anyone over the age of 18. These courses are designed to provide individuals with job specific skills and knowledge to jumpstart their career in the cannabis industry.
Eddah Mutua, a professor in St. Cloud State University’s Judy C. Pearson Department of Communication Studies, was awarded a fellowship by the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) that supports educational projects in Africa.
This award is one of 60 projects funded for 2024-25 academic year that pair African Diaspora scholars with higher education institutions and collaborators in Africa to work together on curriculum co-development, collaborative research, graduate training and mentoring activities.
Biology Assistant Professor Angela McDonnell recently co-authored a publication in the prestigious journal Nature titled Phylogenomics and the rise of the angiosperms.
“Having a publication in a journal like Nature, which spans all of science, is kind of a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” McDonnell said. “I feel really grateful to have amazing collaborators and colleagues that also want to work with me.”
During the spring semester, 25 students from SCSU participated in the fifth Huskies Invent. For this semester, Thermo-Tech Windows and Doors of Sauk Rapids sponsored this 48-hour invent-a-thon. The event, designed to foster creativity and problem-solving, focused on five challenges presented by Thermo-Tech, a company known for producing high-quality windows and doors since 1993.
