The coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve and change. While at this time the risk of COVID-19 is low, St. Cloud State University is closely monitoring the developing situation and is taking the necessary steps to protect the health and safety of the St. Cloud State campus community.
We continue to monitor daily the information related to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the Minnesota Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control. The University has been preparing and making decisions related to Coronavirus for the past month. We are aware of the need for planning on a larger scale and have initiated that process.
Our hearts go out to our students from Sri Lanka and others in our campus community who have been deeply affected by Sunday’s suicide bombings that claimed the lives of at least 290 and injured hundreds more.
During my first nine months in St. Cloud, I have been an avid participant in and fan of our Huskies Athletics community. The attack on last Friday at two mosques in New Zealand that killed at least 50 and wounded dozens more leaves us deeply saddened as it has echoed around the world. On behalf of St. Cloud State University, I have extended heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this unspeakable act of violence, as well as to our local Muslim community.
