Biography

Dr. Kristian Twombly is a professor of Music at St. Cloud State University where he teaches courses in the Composition and New Media Program. He has written works for a wide variety of media which have had performances all over the world, including Bali, New York City, and at IRCAM in Paris. 

 

As a theorist, Twombly has published his analysis of Joji Yuasa's The Sea Darkens in Electroacoustic Music: Analytical Perspectives, a collection of essays edited by Thomas Licata, and he has written reviews for a number of scholarly journals.  As an educator, Twombly has been recognized with the Bruce and Dee Pearson Excellence in Music Education award.

 

The successful introduction of the Composition and New Media major, as well as a New Media and Art minor programs, have distinguished his work at St. Cloud State, as did co-hosting both the SEAMUS National Conference in 2010 and 2017 and the Kyma International Sound Symposium in 2012.
