A St. Cloud State University professor and former coach has been recognized for her work in helping break barriers in providing equity in sports for girls and women of all ages.
Paula U’Ren, a professor and chairperson of SCSU’s Department of Kinesiology and former SCSU Softball head coach, was honored with the Breaking Barriers Award by National Girls & Women in Sports Day — Minnesota.
Dr. Christopher Lehman, Chair and Professor of Ethnic Studies at SCSU, recently received the inaugural Ruth Riester Award for Historical Contributions to the Humanities by the Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC).
The award was given to Dr. Lehman in recognition of his noteworthy research and publication of “Slavery’s Reach: Southern Slaveholders in the North Star State,” which was released in 2019 and has been a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award in the “Minnesota Nonfiction” category.
