Some people were visiting George Friedrich Park for the first time Tuesday. Others were revisiting an area they’d frequented before, even in spite of the “no trespassing” signs that have been there since 1976. But all seemed happy the park was once again open to the public.
St. Cloud State University and the City of St. Cloud officially closed on a land swap deal for George Friedrich Park with a signing on Friday.
A signing ceremony will take place Friday afternoon to transfer George Friedrich Park from St. Cloud State University to the City of St. Cloud.

The city of St. Cloud and St. Cloud State University will formally close on a land swap that will allow for the opening of George Friedrich Park in a ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
Some familiar St. Cloud-area construction projects are among more than $3 billion in requests that have already flooded in for the public works borrowing bill that the Legislature is expected to pass next year.
Adding more land and creating more opportunity to utilize Friedrich Park are key to St. Cloud’s request for bonding dollars.
