“By awarding me the Elsie Kalionen Scholars Fund for Future Teachers, I have been able to focus more on my future rather than worrying about being held back by financial issues. I have been able to spend more time in the schools working with students with and without disabilities to get a good image of what I will be doing the rest of my life. This would be nearly impossible to do without financial assistance from donors like you! The money will be put toward an education that will be taken seriously and will be used for a good cause.”

“Deciding to studying abroad was one of the greatest decisions of my life. I tried so many new foods and saw so many new places. The classes I took definitely gave a global perspective to my life and my learning that I will never lose! Studying abroad even influenced my career by making me desire an opportunity to work somewhere that has global connections. I have also caught the travel bug and can’t wait for the next opportunity to learn and experience a new culture!”

“As a parent of two students who studied abroad, I was delighted to see the personal growth that resulted from their experiences. Studying abroad also gave my children a broader appreciation of cultural and economic dynamics in other countries.”
The Galaway Foundation
Colorado-based Galaway Foundation has endowed a $300,000 scholarship fund at St. Cloud State. The scholarships target full-time students with potential who struggle to afford college. The endowed fund awards at least one full or partial scholarship that covers tuition and fees for a full-time student.
“The Galaway Foundation is optimistic about the future and sees a lot of hope and promise in young people. We are impressed with the activities that young people are involved in to help the world become a better place,” said Andy Galaway ’90, Galaway Foundation President.
