Entries show creativity in SCSU’s Edible Books Festival

St. Cloud Times — Passion for books and baked goods intersected Tuesday during St. Cloud State University’s annual Edible Books Festival.

About 40 entries were part of the contest, now in its fifth year, at James W. Miller Learning Resources Center. The rules: The entry has to be tied to a book, and every bit except for the plate or base needs to be edible.

Some entries were straightforward but beautifully decorated cakes, such as ones inspired by “The Lorax” and “The Little Engine That Could.” Others were less obvious: an armless Rice Krispies figure represented Ernest Hemingway’s “A Farewell to Arms.”
