Kansas City Star — Todd Gilbertson’s first job after graduating with a marketing degree from St. Cloud State University in 1979 was at Burger King.
He was assistant manager at the restaurant in St. Cloud, Minn., and while his favorite fast food snack was a Burger King chicken sandwich — still is — he planned to get some experience and then move on to a corporate job.
But 36 years later, he’s still with Burger King. Gilbertson now owns several Northland Burger Kings with Perry Beaton, who also has been with Burger King more than 30 years. Their restaurants are in Kearney, Liberty, North Kansas City and Platte City, as well as in Maryville, Mo.
