Brainerd Dispatch – The 16th annual Nisswa-stämman Scandinavian Folk Music Festival will be June 12-13 at the Nisswa Pioneer Village.
The Nisswa-stämman is highlighting a “favorite son” of the Brainerd area and the group he founded: Arnold Anderson, and the Stoney Brook Fiddlers.
In 1963, his senior year of high school in Brainerd, Anderson took a general music class and remembers being “wowed”‘ after hearing a Mozart symphony for the first time. He was hooked right then and there. He went on to earn a music education degree from St. Cloud State University and found a job teaching high school music and orchestra in Mankato. During summers off, he attended a music camp in Banff, Canada, where he intensively studied violin performance.
