St. Cloud Times — In fewer than six months, a new private school has sprung up in St. Cloud to provide an academic experience unique in Central Minnesota, according to its organizers.
Calvary Classical Academy is scheduled to launch with about a dozen students on Sept. 1 in space at Calvary Community Church that in part was previously used for a preschool.
It will serve kindergarten, first and second grades as well as seventh and eighth grades.
“Calvary has long had a bent toward education,” said Carol Kuhn, who will serve as headmaster — a role similar to that of principal. “The church had a preschool for more than 35 years and used to have a music school. The staff at the preschool were retiring and so that space became available. It was perfect timing.”

“We don’t want this to just be for people from Calvary,” said Kuhn, who served in various roles for 15 years at St. Cloud Christian School and is finishing her master’s degree in education administration at St. Cloud State University. “Christ and truth is unapologetically part of our curriculum, but we welcome anyone — even if they’re not a believer.”
