SCSU football: New nose guard made big change

St. Cloud Times — Mark Sipple really wanted Ricardo Ramos to play for him at Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The St. Cloud State defensive coordinator came to the Huskies in 2014 after Jim Louis left for Grand Valley State. Before that he was the defensive coordinator for the Blugolds and recruited the 6-foot, 290-pound Ramos out of Milwaukee Riverside High School.

He also knew that he wanted to go back to the defensive side of the ball as a lineman. After talking with the Riverside grads, Ramos got in touch with Sipple about transferring.

“I thought coming to St. Cloud would be a better opportunity for myself,” Ramos said. “Being able to play defense at a bigger school was kind of a dream of mine. I liked the offensive line, but I love playing defense.
