St. Cloud Times – The history museum partnered with the archaeology program at St. Cloud State University to host an Archaeology I.D. event, in which people could bring artifacts found in their yards or elsewhere and learn where they came from.
Among the 32 people who had brought in artifacts as of 2:30 p.m. was an arrow-head shaped rock found in a Paynesville field that the archaeologists said was the head of a spear between 3,500 and 5,500 years ago. The “food processor” was an ancient grinding stone, a wide stone with a dip in the center, and a flat stone used to smash nuts and berries.
