Graduate student Preeti Yonjon, Kathmandu, Nepal, earned the Mark M. Welter World Citizen Award.
Yonjon is pursuing a master’s degree in gerontology and social responsibility. The award provides an annual tribute to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) students who most exemplify the thoughts, words and actions demanded by a 21st century world citizen.
The $500 scholarship can be used for tuition, fees and books during the 2015-16 academic year. In all 20 MnSCU students earned the Welter awards totaling $10,000 in scholarships.
Yonjon is a previous winner of the Newman Civic Fellows Award and is a 2015 St. Cloud State Excellence in Leadership Award winner.
