More than 55 teams are registered for the trivia marathon hosted Feb. 12-14 by KVSC 88.1 FM.

In its 37th year, the Trivia Weekend 2016 theme is “Trivia Cruisin’: Racing, Road Tripping and Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

The 50-hour contest begins 5 p.m. Feb. 12 and ends 7 p.m. Feb. 14. Registration deadline is 4:30 p.m. Feb. 12. Bring completed forms and fees to KVSC studios 9-5 p.m. weekdays. Fees are $50 for public teams and $25 for teams composed of high school and college students.

In addition to KVSC’s broadcast, UTVS TV will telecast live coverage on St. Cloud Charter channel 180 and on the http://utvs.com webstream.

The social media hashtag is #TriviaWeekend. Follow on facebook.com/kvsc881fm and twitter.com/kvsc881fm.

A major logistical undertaking, Trivia Weekend depends heavily on the work of volunteers. Email [email protected] to sign up for a shift, which are typically three hours.

The awards ceremony will be 7 p.m. Feb. 14 in Ritsche Auditorium. The after-party follows in the main room of the Red Carpet Nightclub, downtown St. Cloud.

The 2015 contest featured 64 teams. It was won by Stefan’s Dream XVI: Stefan, Warrior Princess, a variant of the Stefan’s Dream team that has won five of the last seven marathons.

Shake a Hamster Band writes, records and performs parodies of pop tunes exclusively for Trivia Weekend. Art work for the 2016 Trivia Weekend was created by graduate student YaHaddy Njie, KVSC’s social media/public relations director.

Created to ease the ill-effects of cabin fever, Trivia Weekend debuted in 1980 with 25 teams. View the official Trivia Weekend history page.

KVSC 88.1 FM broadcasts non-stop to a potential Central Minnesota audience of two million people. The Sound Alternative has delivered music, sports and public-affairs programming from the St. Cloud State campus since 1967.
