The Blade — Walleye rookie Andrew Prochno ’15 is among eight first-year Toledo players that still keep close tabs on the college programs that they competed for just a few short months ago.
Prochno, who played at NCAA powerhouse St. Cloud State University, has had bragging rights many times in the Walleye locker room this season. The rookie defenseman said the good-natured ribbing stops short of all-out trash talk.
“After games, the college guys will look up to see how their teams did,” said Prochno, whose St. Cloud State team is ranked No. 5. “We’ll rag on each other if there’s a bad loss.”
There are two rookies who played at No. 18 Bowling Green (Dajon Mingo and Ralfs Friebergs), while Dominic Zombo played at No. 7 Nebraska-Omaha. Austin Wuthrich is a Notre Dame grad and the Irish are No. 13, while Max Gaede played at No. 20 Minnesota State.
