St. Cloud Times — A third annual contest and two new ones celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. brought 24 area students awards last week.
Organizer Sarah Drake said the Dexter R. Stanton Essay and Visual Art Contest had a record number of participants. Both an oratory contest for area college students and recent graduates and an art contest at St. Cloud Technical & Community College received entries in their inaugural years, she said.
Those results were “wonderful,” Drake said. The artist said the same about the third annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast at St. Cloud State University, which more than 500 people attended, and an evening ceremony at St. John’s University on Jan. 18.
