St. Cloud Times — It had already been a pretty memorable season for Sartell/Sauk Rapids girls hockey assistant coach Alex Nelson ’14, even before the Storm’N Sabres qualified for the program’s first state tournament with a 2-0 win over Roseau in the Section 8-2A final Friday night in Detroit Lakes.
That’s because following her team’s 2-1 loss at Thief River Falls on Jan. 23, the former St. Cloud State women’s hockey standout received a surprise proposal from her boyfriend Brian Kampa ’10, a Sartell High School graduate who works at the St. Cloud Orthopedics Sports Center and serves as the Sartell/Sauk Rapids team trainer.
