St. Cloud Times — When Kevin Gravel ’14 got his big news Feb. 10, he was on a bus with Ontario Reign teammates, heading to an American Hockey League game in San Jose.
As usual, they all wore track suits.
Not exactly the attire someone thinks of wearing when they get on a plane for New York to play in the NHL for the first time.
“I was scrambling a bit there.” Gravel said. “They worked with me and understood and I’m all situated now and no longer wearing a track suit.”
Gravel, a 23-year-old and former St. Cloud State captain, got called up to the Los Angeles Kings and played his first NHL game Feb. 11 against the New York Islanders at Barclays Center. The Islanders won 5-2 and Gravel played 10 minutes, 46 seconds on defense for the Kings.
