Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park plans stir debate

St. Cloud Times — A first look at how Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park might be developed has riled lakeshore residents and the St. Joseph Rod & Gun Club, which operates a boat landing on the 190-acre lake.

Stearns County is developing a master plan for the 265-acre park, which features a half-mile of lakeshore and a network of ski trails that wind through 300-year-old trees.

Rhonda Zimmerman, who completed a biological survey of Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park a couple of years ago while she was earning her master’s in ecology and natural resources from St. Cloud State University, said the proposed improvements were in a part of the park that had been developed by the previous owners. She supported more gentle uses of the park, such as a walk-in access.
