St. Cloud Times — The degrees of separation between Jacob Benson and Robby Jackson started pretty wide.
They were both hockey players growing up, but Benson grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Jackson grew up in Alameda, California.
The two were playing for different junior hockey teams in the United States Hockey League, but their friendship began when Jackson committed to play for the St. Cloud State men’s hockey team in 2014. Benson had committed to the Huskies about a year and a half earlier.
