St. Cloud Times — If colleges and universities are to be truly committed to student success, we need to fully understand what is needed and better meet the budgetary demands of supporting success outside of the classroom. Just as students today are entering college with increased financial challenges, many also are entering with greater needs — and our accounts were never built to address the extra demand.
Access without success is a false promise.
Students today need additional supports. We have students who are homeless and hungry, student veterans with post-traumatic stress needs, an increase in disability services needs and a growing demand for counseling services.
