St. Cloud Times — Local “stars” will compete in a “Dancing with the Stars” style event on June 20 to raise money to support women and girls.
The Women’s Fund of Central Minnesota Community Foundation is having “Dancing With Our Stars” at the Stearns History Museum.
Local leaders will compete with professionally trained dancers to win a $15,000 grant for the charity of their choice.

Jeff Ringer had heard of similar events in other areas, said Courtney Schmidt, donor relations coordinator for the Central Minnesota Community Foundation.
“We thought it was a great idea. We thought we’d give it a whirl,” Schmidt said.
Earlier fundraising events for the Women’s Fund were more casual parties.
“This year we wanted to mix it up and we hope to get some new people interested,” Schmidt said.

The judges include Melinda Tamm from Ms. Melinda’s Dance Studio, Dr. Chip Martin from St. Cloud Hospital and community foundation board member Debra Leigh, a St. Cloud State University professor who teaches dance.
