St. Cloud State University students are returning to campus this week, and they’ll see a campus missing a familiar building but welcoming a cohort of new faces that was a decade in the making.
The space that used to be home to W. W. Holes Hall is transforming into green space, after the building was demolished this summer. It began housing students in 1965 and has been empty since 2014.
The university, Minnesota State officials and construction consultants determined that it was cost-prohibitive to remodel the building.
The university is planning a gathering of those who lived and worked in Holes Hall to share photos, memorabilia and memories. The event is planned for Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. and is part of the Celebrate St. Cloud State festivities. The daylong event starts with a continental breakfast near Stearns Hall.
