Author, academic and Holocaust survivor Fred Amram will share his story 4 p.m. Nov. 2 in Atwood Theatre.
Amram, 83, witnessed Kristallnacht, the Nazi government’s November 1938 coordinated attack on Jewish-owned stores, buildings and synagogues. His home in Hannover was invaded by the Gestapo, the official secret police.

He and his family emigrated to America, leaving behind uncles, aunts, a grandmother and other relatives, who perished during the World War II genocide that killed an estimated 11 million, including six million Jews.
Amram was a faculty member on the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus, specializing in communication and creativity.
He also served in administrative roles for the university’s General College. Retired now, he lectures occasionally for the College of Continuing Education.
Copies of Amram’s memoir, “We’re in America Now: A Survivor’s Stories,” (Holy Cow! Press, 2016) will be on sale. Refreshments will follow his remarks.
