Global Engagement Forum to honor Potter

St. Cloud State University is celebrating global trade, education and engagement with its first Global Engagement Forum Nov. 18.

The event “Education, Trade and Diplomacy” is bringing together international diplomats and St. Cloud State professors to discuss international education, international trade and diplomacy at 1 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Atwood Memorial Center Theatre.

The event will also honor the late St. Cloud State President Earl H. Potter III, who had a passion for international education and an impact on its growth at St. Cloud State.

The panel features Mexico Consul General Gerardo Guerrero, China Consul General Hong Lei, Spain Honorary Consul General Maria Antonia Calvo and St. Cloud State political science professors Linda Butenhoff and Edward Greaves.

Moderating the panel will be Kathleen Motzenbecker, executive director of the Minnesota Trade Office.

Motzenbecker has served the Minnesota Trade Office since 2013. She is responsible for developing the state’s international marketing plans, attracting foreign direct investment, identifying international market opportunities, managing trade missions and guiding development of export education programs and promotional events.

She also serves as chief of protocol for the state and is the state’s liaison to Minnesota’s diplomatic consular corps.

The forum will feature a 30 minute panel discussion followed by a question and answer session.
