International Education Week is Nov. 13-19

The nationwide celebration of international education is held each November St. Cloud State University has a full week of events Nov. 13-19 to celebrate the university’s international students, study abroad and cultures and countries throughout the world.

A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, International Education Week is an effort to prepare the nation’s citizens for a global environment.

On campus the week includes cultural nights, fundraisers, service projects, experience opportunities, films and a conference.

One highlight of the week is the Global Engagement Forum in honor of late. St. Cloud State President Earl H. Potter III Nov. 18 in Atwood Memorial Center.

The event features consul generals from China, Spain and Mexico and St. Cloud State political science  professors speaking about international education and global awareness.

Sunday, Nov. 13

3-5 p.m. Passport to the World, Atwood Ballroom

Monday, Nov. 14

10 a.m.-noon International Studies Visit Day, Atwood

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Global Street, Atwood main lounge

3-4 p.m. Tai Chi instruction, Atwood main lounge

7-10 p.m. International Film Series featuring “Rams”, Atwood Theatre

Tuesday, Nov. 15

Noon-1 p.m. Travelin’ Tuesday’s, Atwood Voyageurs Room

The event features Japan and South Korea.

1-4 p.m. International Service Project, Atwood main lounge

The service projects will go to international charities and organizations.

4-5:15 p.m. “Brexit and Beyond: Reflections on the U.K.’s Vote to Leave the E.U.”, Atwood Alumni Room

6:30-8:30 p.m. Movie Night featuring “Together”, Atwood Voyageurs Room

Wednesday, Nov. 16

11 a.m.-1 p.m. Chinese Cooking Class, Lawrence Hall basement

2-3 p.m. Alnwick Program open house, Atwood Alumni Room

3-4:30 p.m. Cultural Café, Atwood Theatre

The café is focusing on Europe and features students from Germany, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

5:30-7:30 p.m. Oxfam Hunger Banquet, Atwood Cascade Room

Thursday, Nov. 17

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Masinyusane Fundraiser, Atwood main lounge

1-3 p.m. Short-term Faculty Proposal Meeting, Atwood Glacier South

3-4 p.m. Tai Chi instruction, Atwood main lounge

7:30 p.m.-midnight Drag Show, Atwood Ballroom

Friday, Nov. 18

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Masinyusane Fundraiser, Atwood main lounge

1-2 p.m. Global Engagement Forum, Atwood Theatre

3-4 p.m. Global Peace Building and Youth Conference pre-session, Atwood Alumni Room

Saturday, Nov. 19

8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Global Peace Building and Youth Conference, Holiday Inn Venue

The speaker will be David Smith.

6-9 p.m. South Asia Night, Atwood Ballroom
