The area economy appears to have rebounded in recent months, according to economists Rich MacDonald and King Banaian, authors of the St. Cloud Area Quarterly Business Report (QBR).
Despite some anecdotal evidence of recent regional layoffs, quantitative and qualitative indicators of local economic performance point to improved future conditions in the St. Cloud area.
Two special questions in a survey of local businesses argue healthcare should be the Legislature’s top focus when it convenes Jan. 3.

Banaian is dean of the School of Public Affairs. MacDonald is a professor and interim director of the school’s Research Institute.
The QBR has been published four times a year since January 1999.
