St. Cloud Times — Overwhelmed. Speechless. Hopeful. Historic.
That was how some of the Central Minnesota women who participated in Women’s Marches on Saturday described their experiences.
Many marches more than exceeded attendance expectations. In D.C., they planned for 200,000, but crowds were estimated at 500,000. In St. Paul, the expected total was 20,000, but police say 60,000 showed up.
They described their experiences on the ground in Washington, D.C. and St. Paul.
Amanda Magsam ’10, a graduate of St. Cloud Technical High School and St. Cloud State, said the Women’s March in St. Paul was an incredible experience.
“It was just really incredible to see everybody united. It wasn’t about lifting up one cause over another. It was truly a march about equality and love for everyone,” she said. “It was incredible to be part of a peaceful movement, that was full of love and not hate.”
