St. Cloud Times — A former Coborn’s Inc. COO and a St. Cloud vendor were among the honorees at the Minnesota Grocers Association annual conference on July 30.
Bob Thueringer ’75 was inducted into the MGA Hall of Fame “in recognition of his outstanding service and exemplary contributions to Minnesota’s food industry,” according to the association.
Thueringer retired in 2014 after 47 years with the company. His relationship with Coborn’s Inc. began in 1967 when he took a position as a bag boy in the company’s Sauk Rapids store at the age of 16.
After earning a bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University, Thueringer started full-time at Coborn’s in 1975 as its operations/personnel manager, and subsequently rose to the positions of vice president, executive vice president and ultimately company COO by 1999.
