St. Cloud State University has again been voted the Best College in Central Minnesota in the annual Best of Central Minnesota reader’s poll conducted by the St. Cloud Times.
The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on Sept. 14. St. Cloud State has received the Best College recognition both years they have included it in the Education category (2016 and 2017).
Best of Central Minnesota polled readers on the very best life that Central Minnesota has to offer, from dining to drinks and from shopping to services.
The winners list includes several alumni-owned or co-owned businesses:
- Ms. Melinda’s Dance Studio for Best Dance Studio (Melinda Tamm ’04)
- Poppy Salon for Best Hair Salon (Jackie Hyndman ’07)
- Dayna Deters ’08 of Dayan Deters Determined Fitness for Best Personal Trainer
- Schlenner Wenner & Co. for Best Accountant (Mike Wenner ’79)
- Custom Catering by Short Stop (Byron Bjorklund ’85)
- St. Cloud Floral for Best Florist (Jan Strommen ’91)
The award winners also include businesses and events that are long-time favorites among St. Cloud State students such as Val’s Rapid Serv (Best Burger), House of Pizza (Best Pizza) and Summertime By George! (Best Annual Event).
