In its 56th year, the economics and business-conditions summit is Feb. 1 at 912 Regency Plaza and Feb. 2 at St. Cloud State’s Atwood Memorial Center.

Thursday highlights include an economic forecast by a quartet of experts, led by St. Cloud State economist King Banaian, dean of the School of Public Affairs.

Among Friday’s highlights is Giacomo Fiorani and Serena Mariani discussing local food supply and agriculture in cities. Fiorani holds a doctorate in economics and management at the University of Macerata in Italy. Mariani is a law student at University of Macerata.

Glaeser’s free keynote address, “Understanding Cities,” is 10 a.m. Feb. 2 on center stage at Performing Arts Center.

He teaches microeconomics theory, and occasionally urban and public economics. He has served as director of the Taubman Center for State and Local Government and director of the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston.

Glaeser has published dozens of papers on cities economic growth, law and economics. In particular, his work has focused on the determinants of city growth and the role of cities as centers of idea transmission. He earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1992.
