ST. CLOUD TIMES — Roughly one-third liberal, one-third conservative and one-third Independent. That’s the partisan breakdown in St. Cloud State University’s most recent statewide survey.
And yet, 46 percent of those surveyed said they’d support the Democratic ticket, compared to 27 percent who’d support the Republican ballot in 2018 elections.
It’s the year of a mid-term election, a big year for both parties in Minnesota. Election results could tilt the party balance in the state Capitol and in Washington, D.C.
St. Cloud State’s Survey Center asked more than 450 adults across Minnesota about their 2018 election preferences for its fall 2017 report. The survey didn’t reveal changes in the state’s partisan makeup, but it does suggest people think Democrats will have an edge this year.
